Imagine if magic was real

I like to think magic exists in the world. It's certainly more fun than just thinking that this is all to life. I go to school to get a job. I get a job so I can make money. And most of all, I do all this to have babies.
I'd much rather pretend that I was a fairy. I'd be gorgeous, ethereal, and certainly not conducive to baby making.

I wonder what sort of fairy I would be. There are many types, depending on the source. High court, dark court, summer court, winter court, Unseelie court, Seelie court, and let's not forget elementals. Earth, wind, water and fire. The High Court has nothing to do with humans. The Dark Court is no help for humans. Summer court is concerned with the joys of heat. The winter court immersed in the sorrows of winter. The Unseelie Court is also working against humans.  The Seelie Court are happy, helpful fey. Blech. I'd want to be a Dark Fairy. I'd be night and darkness. Black, blue and bruise purple.

And this brings me back to my jealousy of Brownies. When I was a kid, I desperately wanted to be a Brownie.  Instead, I ended up in Guides, while my younger sisters got to be Brownies. Their patrols were much more interesting than my Kingfisher. They were Dryads, Nymphs, Djinns, Pixies, Elves and Sprites. I'd desperately pour over their Brownie books, rereading the descriptions of each patrol. I'd pretend that I was a Pixie, tiny and floating about. A Nymph playing in a spring.

And to make my jealousy even worse, Brownies got to dance around a toadstool. How unfair.
